Draco eyed the cat from the corner of his eye as he ate. It was a habit of his to speak to animals, always had been since he was little. He’d pretended that they were friends his age. He’d been loved by his parents, but it never quite filled his need for companionship.
“You know,” he began after finishing his entrèe, “Granger’s been worried sick about you. So worried, in fact, that she asked me about you. Can you imagine that? It was… shocking, to say the least.”
And, indeed, it had been. A civil word from her was a good sign that he was near to proving his point. He could be tolerable and it had everything to do with a wizard if a witch changed her mind.
Licking his whiskers, Crookshanks lifts his head to see Draco. His little heart skips a beat at the mention of his owner. Truth to be told, he misses her and he wants to see her, but he is still butt hurt about what happened in the morning. Seriously, did no one notice the Slytherin girl catnapping him?
Once again, he meows in response and thinks about it for a moment. His owner would never ask the Slytherin boy for help, that was hard to believe. Still, maybe it was time to go back to the Gryffindor Common room.
With a masculine grace all his own, Draco slid off the counter stool, headed toward the Kitchen’s exit toward the grounds. He cast a sideways glance at the cat.
“I’ll be going now. I imagine an elf could help you back to your owner. Or,” he says, an invitation in his tone, he did miss his maman’s cats. “You could piss off the rest of the day with me, worry Granger, and get her to understand that it was her own damn fault that you went missing since she hadn’t cared to check on you…”
Draco shrugs. “It’s up to you,” he says pushing open the door to the outside.
And he has a point, Crookshanks knows it. Part of him wants to go back to Hermione’s arms, but the other part of him wants to stay with Draco. The Gryffindor girl needs to pay more attention, everyone seems to always need something from him and taking him without permission.
The cat took his decision, walking over to Draco and stepping out of the kitchen first.
